All XHTML & CSS has been hand coded using TextPad, a powerful text editor, with syntax highlighting.
For testing and debugging during development I used the Web Developer Toolbar , a Firefox extension by Chris Pederick. Although I have to confess to using the IE Developer Toolbar on occasions.
The Gallery pages have been created using the Picasa Web Templating system and the Export as HTML feature of Picasa. One of the included Templates was adapted to produce valid XHTML and the required output to match the rest of the site. To see how the original template looked, please take a look at this Demo.
The layout for the blog was adapted from one of the custom templates available from Blogger. Although it now bears little resemblance and really only the structure remains it was originally 'Dots Dark' as probably best seen here.
My first point of call for reference and tutorials has generally been HTML Dog, however recently I have found that if you just want that bit more information, particularly for CSS, the reference section at Sitepoint is well worth a try.
The main navigation buttons were inspired by this tutorial by Alex Griffioen, although I'm not really using it to full effect as all my buttons are the same size and I could have achieved the same affect with only one image instead of two.
Of the many techniques around to achieve rounded corners, the main Gallery images were 'rounded' using the technique detailed in this Sitepoint article.
The Camera used from 2003 "until I can afford a decent DSLR"
is the Sony Cybershot DSC-P9,
which has been pretty good for a point and shoot and it was certainly the best use of our Debenhams Wedding Gift Cards!
Update: as of the 20th July 2008 (announced in this Blog post), with the help of the nice people at Egg, I've gone and bought myself a Sony a350.
Some pictures courtesy of Mr P R Garner, unless otherwise stated all other photos are ©GarnerWeb.
All graphics editing has been done using Paint Shop Pro® Photo X2. (Yes, I actually bought some commercial software!). Although if truth be known, I'm planning to move to Photoshopin the near future.......... (lets just say I won't be paying full price)
The Main Navigation buttons are edited versions of those found in the button tutorial as detailed above.
The various Blue, Green and Orange dots are
enhanced versions of those found in the Blogger template 'Dots Dark' as detailed above.
The Gallery navigation buttons
were derived from some icons that I bought, (yes bought) from iStockphoto.com.
At full size the originals look fantastic as shown by the preview here Toolbar & Interface icons | Senso series.
Mr Ian Baldry a now ex-colleague colleague again kindly re-sized and re-coloured the buttons and drew the Thumbnails button from scratch.
The external link image (at the top right of all external links) is an edited version of the one found on HTML Dog.
The Favicon in the address bar was an image created by me and turned into an Icon at Chami.com.
